Reading books written with characters out of your age range is totally fine! If you’re reading in a range lower than your current age, you get to reminisce about that phase in your life. If you’re reading in a range higher than your current age, you get to speculate what you’re life might look like then. Either way, you’re becoming more attune to your emotions and feelings and also just fulfilling an existing book craving for something different.

i love when i read a book and it just makes me so giddy that I have to stop reading for a minute and grin or press my face into a pillow and squeal ahhh books make me so happy
concept: you’re lying on your bed, outside is cold but your room is warm. Your girlfriend lies with her head on your lap, you’re both reading books and absent-mindedly stroking each others hands. The smell of coffee wafts around the room and the setting sun streams through your window. Later, you’ll both lean out the window and watch the colours of the sky deepen and darken. Limbs intertwined, heads on shoulders, soft lips brushing soft cheeks

My aesthetic: Books. Books at the bookstore. Books on bookshelves. Books coordinated by color. Books coordinated by series. Books with fantastic covers. Books that are small. Books that are huge. Books. BOOKS.
It’s kind-of ironic that when the ‘Harry Potter’ books were being published, people were getting terrified that the books would encourage young people to start doing witchcraft and Satan-worship, and make us into awful people that would despise polite society.
If anything, the books made us do the opposite. The ‘Harry Potter’ books encouraged us to stand up for oppressed minorities, to question the establishment and to not blindly trust media organisations.
We understand that an authority is not perfect in everything it does, because we read how much Fudge and Scrimgeour messed things up with the Ministry. We know that media will always have an agenda, and often that it does not reflect reality, because we saw how the Daily Prophet altered news stories and took the Ministry line on things. We know that we must stand up for oppressed minorities, as we saw how house-elves, magical creatures, and muggle-borns were treated in the wizarding world.
We were with them with they found the stone, discovered the chamber and freed the prisoner. We were there in the Tri-wizard tournament, there in the department of mysteries and there learning about the half-blood prince. We were there at the battle of Hogwarts, when all seemed lost but hope survived and saved the day.
We were there, and we continue to be there. The wizarding world might have been saved, but our world still needs saving.
